Adding a Video File to a WYSIWYG Course

You can add videos to Courses written using the LearnCenter WYSIWYG Course Editor and define how much space they take up on the page. Typically, you will add video files that you previously uploaded to Resource Manager. If there are video files you want to use and you have not already uploaded them to Resource Manager, you can do so while adding them to your Course. Another way you can add videos to your Course is to point to their locations on the Internet. See the following sections for instructions on each of these methods.

Adding Videos from Resource Manager

If you have already uploaded the videos you want to use in your Course to Resource Manager, follow these steps. In the WYSIWYG Course Editor:

  1. Place your cursor at the spot on the page where you want the image inserted.
  2. Click .

  1. Select Video from the Directories drop-down list.
  2. Select the desired file from the Video drop-down list.
  3. Type the Layout Width in pixels. (Default is 320)
  4. Type the Layout Height. (Default is 240)
  5. Select one of the following from the Play Automatically drop-down list:
  1. Click the Include a Link for Windows Media Player check box to attach a link for Users to download Windows Media Player.
    or
    Clear the check box if you do not want to include a link for Users to download Windows Media Player.
  2. If you clicked the Include a Link to Windows Media Player check box, select one of the following:
  1. Click Save.
  2. The video file is added to the editor page at the insertion point.
  3. Click to preview the page and see how it will look to Users.

Uploading Video Files

If you have not already uploaded the file you want to the Resource Manager, you do not need to navigate away from this window to do so. You can upload additional video files the Resource Manager directly from this window. In the WYSIWYG Course Editor:

  1. Place your cursor at the spot in the editor where you want the video player inserted.
  2. Click .
  3. Click Upload More Files.
  4. In the Directory to upload to drop-down list, select Video.
  5. Click Browse and search your computer for the video file you want to upload.
  6. Select the file and click Open.
  7. Repeat the previous two steps until you have added each video file you want to upload. (You can upload 10 files at once.)
  8. Click Upload.
  9. Click Return.
  10. The uploaded files are listed in the Video drop-down list. To add one of the uploaded audio files now, select it from the list then click Save.

Uploading a Video from a Location on the Internet

You can upload videos from the Internet to be used in your Course. The video must be a .mov, .ra, .mpg, .avi, .ram, or . asf. If you want to insert a YouTube video, use the button instead. In the WYSIWYG Course Editor:

  1. Browse to the web page that contains the image you want to use.
  2. Right-click the video and select Copy Video URL. This copies the URL information to your computer's clipboard.
  3. In the WYSIWYG Course Editor, place your cursor at the spot where you want the image inserted.
  4. Click .
  5. In the Enter a URL to a Video on the Internet box, highlight the existing text (http://) then press CTRL+V on your keyboard to paste the URL of the video’s location.
  6. Click Save.
